Video Art

In this page you can discover the finalist for the Video Art discipline in the Green Area (Western, Central and Eastern Europe).
The winners of the Semi-final event in each discipline will take part in the MArteLive Biennial in October 2022 in Rome, Italy. They will also have the chance to participate in Art residencies and get relevant prizes.

Ferrario Mari

Pozan, Poland

Ferrario Mari (1999) is an Italo-Polish artist, migrant in her own way. Born in Katowice (Silesia, Poland) but lived and practiced most of her life in Rome. Here she collaborated with the „Ultrablu” art and publication studio (where artists in the specter of autism collaborate with other creators).
Her art practice is based on critical -social- and self-biographical themes and international collaboration with no specific limits in regard to media. Currently she’s
developing and curating the „Fake Art Residency Project” in Poznan and abroad alongside her immersive performative practice.

Kamilija Teklė Čižaitė

Berlin, Germany

Kamilija Tekle Cizaite was born in Vilnius, Lithuania in 1998. She is a filmmaker, photographer and video-artist based in Berlin. In 2017 she graduated from National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts where she studied classical flute and piano for 12 years. Then she studied jazz flute in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre for one year where she also took classes of screenwriting and directing.

Since September 2018 she is studying at Catalyst Institute For Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin, Germany where she has participated in many creative projects as a writer, director, sound and video editor, director of photography, producer, set designer. Her short movies have successfully participated in festivals in Germany, Lithuania and the United States. Kamilija’s photoshoots have been published in magazines in Berlin and London.

Maciej Jarczyński

Gdansk, Poland

Maciej Jarczyński graduated from two art academies in Gdansk: The Academy of Fine Arts, and The Academy of Music. He pursued postgraduate studies from Jagiellonian University in Cracow and doctoral studies at Gdansk University. He finished a PhD in The Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw. As a musician and an artist, he has been building interest in art correspondence problems, creating short film forms, and composing original music for his films.

Maud Narfin Lonis

Paris, France

NML (1994)
Lives and works in Paris and Brussels. She graduated from Paris-Cergy Fine Art. Through writing, photography and video, her artistic work explores individual identities and their complexities in a poetic way of decompartmentalization. Her creations seek to extend the processes of identification to unexpected figures and echo contemporary issues related to gender, social class, Afro-descendancy and the privation of freedom. Her work was presented in 2021 at the Ygrec Arts Center (Paris), at the Rabouan Moussion gallery (Paris), at the Cultural Point of Louvain-la-Neuve and at the Cultural Point of Brussels (Belgium).

Anina Rubin

Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Anina Rubin is a media artist and spatial audio musician. Her media installations and live sets are put together with vocals, choirs, lyrics, musique concrète and plenty of sound-design. She is fascinated by the use of vocals, ancient languages and AI and plays multiple instruments. The musical projects are mostly created in symbiosis with short films, animations, paintings, performances or video installations.

Klara Kusa

Bratislava, Slovakia

Klara Kusa is an emerging artist and student of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Kusa studies photography but believes in art synthesis of all disciplines. That is why she chose multiple internships and courses, each focusing on different set of skills. Amongst them are digital arts, intermedia, sculpture, graphic design, painting/drawing. Kusa is especially fond of dada, neo-dada, conceptual and neo-conceptual art. The artist appreciates the techniques of appropriation and experimentation and is fond of the postmodern approach to art.

In her work, she deals with the topics of mental health and illness, human rights and their violation and finally, the deconstruction of the role of the artist/spectator and the artwork itself. She is also a writer, blogger and a mental health activist, she founded a Slovak non-profit organization Psychiatria nie je na hlavu. Kusa is based in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Melissa Ivana

Timisoara, Romania

She raised in a post-communist eastern European country that has struggled and is still struggling with poverty leaves a lasting imprint on an individual. Melissa Ivana is a visual artist who uses photography, sound and video to issue ironic and surreal comments on the awe-inspiring world that surrounds her. Also, by using the poems she writes as a starting point, she takes a dive into the subconscious and the way one can heal his pain through photography. The roots lie in the Romanian traditions and folklore. They move Melissa towards creating, and motivate her to always question the world in a pure Romanian, theatrical way.

Karolina Pielak
Born in 07.01.1994 in Gdańsk.
Graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. Traveler, thinker and dreamer.
Believes that her art is seeking for something unpredictable.Her works are intuitive and experimental. Influenced by the inner and outer world, where the dreams,thoughts and experience meet. Believes that art can change our attitude and overlook phenomena, people, places and things. The poetics of surrealism and mystery are close to her.

Doesn’t like stiff frames and limits of names in art
She chooses various forms inspired by nature, visited places or memories.
In painting she likes what is unsaid, contrasts and irregularities.
Each of the works depends on the recipient, whose perception gives the work new meanings. She participated in an Art Residency in Savenay in France 2020.
